James Paul Gee’s What Video Games Have to Teach Us About Learning and Literacy
Jane McGonigal’s Reality is Broken
I will provide several course readings (as in-class handouts or via CANVAS) I think are important for the planned discussions and activities of this course. In addition to print articles and chapters selected to add depth & layers to course content and discussions, I may also ask students to engage a multitude of digital creations: i.e., games, YouTube videos, Websites, blogs, wikis, and any number of other visual and/or digital rhetoric creations.
Selected readings may come from the works of McKenzie Wark, Jesper Juul, Johan Huizinga, Roger Caillois, Ian Bogost, and Miguel Sicart (to name a few).
